All publically owned and operated bridges require a bi-annual inspection. Bridge Inspections required 24 months . Condition ratings are reported to the State Department of transportation for uploading to FHWA. Bridge Inspection requirements by Federal Law i.e Title 23 – Highways Part 650 Subpart C. By the code of federal regulations (CFR) A bridge is defined as any structure spanning 20 feet or more.
